SAYING GOOD-BYE TO THE KHALLIDS, CONVERSATION FRIENDS, ISABEL...

This weekend has been, as usual, a sort of rollercoaster. We had to say good-bye to lots of friends and it's been pretty moving.

SATURDAY, June 26th: As it was pouring, for a change ;-), we went to our daughters' favorite place in Downtown -Science World, a hands-on science park. Ana and Carmen played here and there but focused more on the shows: Balloons, Toys and "Beaver Tales". Science World is the perfect place to kill 2 or 3 hours and have lots of fun.

After that we visited another favorite landmark -Downtown Library. Surprisingly, somebody (our guess was a high school or universty) was organizing a graduation ceremony in the promenade and we found chairs, tables, food and so on all over the place. Ana and Carmen borrowed 12 audiobooks. We were supposed to have a picnic with Tillat and Farooq but, as it was pouring, they cancelled the plan and we all went to their place to have dinner. In the afternoon, the sun came out and it was almost hot, damn it! OK, plan B was very attractive: shrimp curry, eggplant with youghourt and cheese cake, yummy!!!
We talked for hours and exchanged presents (t-shirts, books). It's amazing how relaxed and talkative we feel every time we get together. By the way, we didn't say good-bye cause we planned to meet again on Monday for a bike ride. And, being more than 12:00 am, we called it a day.

SUNDAY, JUNE 26TH: We got up early to prepare onion, bacon and mushroom quiches for the "see-you picnic" with our friends from "The Conversation". We all met in Rocky Point on a beautiful sunny day. We got the bus there 'cause to ride looked like a crazy idea this time. Can you imagine? Our 2 girls, 3 quiches, our ball, kite, frisbees...Undoubtedly, we made the right decision taking into account the circumstances...
20 or 25 people from The Conversation gathered in Rocky Point. We ate, laughed, chatted, played... The atmosphere was, as usual, lively and friendly. The food was exotic and tasty. We said "see you" with hugs and mutual promises to organize trips. Isabel gave us a ride and we skipped the painful walk and bus back home, hooray!!

MONDAY, June 27th: We had been craving a ride around Stanley Park for months but the plan looked jinxed (you know, non-stop rain). But this Monday was dry and we took advantage. The girls got up soon and had breakfast with our neighbours Sandra and William, who took them to school as well. We got on the West Coast Express and at 8:30 we were in the Waterfront ready for a good time! We met our friends Tillat and Farooq and started the beautiful ride.

Vancouver is a wonderful city to enjoy the perfect "urban" ride: Stanley Park, English Bay, False Creek, Olympic Village and Granville Island. It consists of 15 gorgeous car-free kilometres of beautiful and peaceful seawall. Once on Granville Island, we strolled and visited our favorite stores. We had a very diverse and exotic lunch in the Public Market: Japanese teriyaki, Korean rolls, English?? fish and chips and Indian meat balls. We had dessert in the Blue Parrot Cafe. We rode quickly back Downtown to face the "see-you" moment. Cristina and me were restrained. Obviously, we are living in denial. We need to take the plane back to Spain to believe that this is really over. We took our last West Coast Express back home and had lunch with Isabel, Armand and Julia. We laugh so hard remembering grannies' highlights! It's curious how similar our anecdotes were. Apparently, granny Brigi is one of a kind but she has a twin in Barcelona. We had so much fun that we even forgot to take pictures. BYE-BYE FRIENDS!!!
